See what Booklist 5 can do for booksellers, private collectors and libraries ...

Users enter details of their books into Booklist 5, entering them in any random order they want. The entries can then be selected, sorted and listed in a large number of different ways.

Designed originally for booksellers wanting to list out-of-print and used books for sale on the internet or issue printed 'Books for sale' lists and catalogues, Booklist has been upgraded and enhanced to be equally ideal for book collectors and private libraries. Booklist 5 makes book cataloguing neat and simple.

Booklist 5, running on all versions of Windows from Windows 98 onwards including Windows XP and Vista, holds full details of your book stock or holdings, providing fast search and sorting by author; title; publisher; date of publication; description; price/value; cost; pre-determined keywords; main classification; date of entry or amendment and, if appropriate, ISBN.

Booklist 5 costs just £22 / US $45 as a download file, or £25 / US $50 if supplied on cd-rom including postage worldwide.

More information: Written for professionals; easy for anyone to understand and use

This easy-to-use program stores book cataloguing details in a format compatible with all major booktrade services and makes preparing and printing book lists and bibliographies, or listing books for sale on the internet, an easy matter.

Sales lists and bibliographies: Booklist 5 prints out immediate individual one-off tailor-made selections of books in conventional cataloguing format for use as a sales list or bibliography.  Alternatively, catalogues in your own house-style can be produced using the files produced by Booklist 5 in conjunction with any word-processing or d.t.p. software (including Word, Works, Write, MS Office, and the like).

Listing books for sale on your own website: Booklist 5 is ideal for listing books for sale on your own personal website such as that provided by the UKBookWorld Personal Bookshop Service or a sophisticated personal website designed specifically for you by Dedoko.com.

Listing books for sale on public internet databases: Booklist 5 is compatible with all conventional online books-for-sale databases including Amazon's November 2007 change of UIEE file format requirements.

Listing books for sale on eBay: The program has a special output enabling you to display selected books for sale on eBay in a simple and neat conventional book-cataloguing format without having to retype the data in eBay itself and then design the layout.

Unlimited number of book records: Booklist 5 has no practical restrictions on the number of records it can hold (20,000? 40,000? No problem) and, most importantly, allows unlimited length catalogue descriptions.  Sufficient space is provided for book-titles up to 250 characters in length.

Currency and book stock valuation: You can record book costs and values in £, Euros, Irish punt, US $, Can $, Aus $, or any other decimal based currency. The program has a built-in function giving you the total cost and value of your stock or of the books in any selected subject-area within your holdings.

Book images: Booklist 5 allows a pop-up image (photograph) of each book to be displayed alongside each book's individual record within Booklist on your computer. However, note that the program itself does not make, edit or backup these images; it displays images of your books which you make with your usual digital camera, scanner, or graphics software and then store somewhere on the same computer you are using to run Booklist 5.

Online help and free telephone support: Although Booklist 5 is extremely easy to use, there's an extensive online help facility which should give you the answer to just about everything you want to know. There's also a UK telephone helpline available free of charge if you've a particular problem.

In short, Booklist 5 is a dedicated book-cataloguing database which allows the same information, once entered, to be used in a range of professional applications.  It's also been designed so that a computer novice can start operating it in five minutes.

To sum up, Booklist 5 has been written for booksellers, book collectors and private libraries by experienced booktrade members who understand what's needed in book-cataloguing software.   So if you haven't got a database for your books, or if you're struggling with the one you've already got, then Booklist 5 provides an ideal solution.

Upgrading from Booklist 4.* ?

No problem. There's a built-in facility which will automatically transfer all your existing Booklist 4 records into Booklist 5 without change. However, you'll have to enter data in the new additional fields provided if you want to take advantage of Booklist 5's additional searching, sorting and file export features (including a new UIEE output file for booksellers wishing to list on Amazon).

Contact Michael Cole on 01904 631752 if you want to import records from Booklist 2.* or Booklist 3.*

Importing book records from other databases

If you have records to import from another, non-Booklist database, Michael Cole, Booklist’s designer, (telephone 01904 631752) may be able to help you on a consultancy basis.
