Although originals of these 100 rare Glasgow photographs are very difficult to find, you can now get them on a cd-rom prepared from original 19th century items held in a private collection.
This cd-rom isn't mass produced but is compiled individually and personally for each purchaser so few copies exist. You can get one of them here.
This collection of photographs of the old country houses of Glasgow by the Scottish photographer Thomas Annan (1829-87) was first published in 1870 as The Old Country Houses of the Glasgow Gentry in a limited edition of 120 sets, and re-issued in 1878 in a limited edition of 225 sets. Original sets are virtually unobtainable and command prices in the £1,000/£2,000 region on the rare occasions they turn up.
A few sample images are set out below, followed by a complete list of all the views.
