All the historical images and illustrations published in digital form by LocalHistoryViews have been prepared from original 19th century or early 20th century items held in private collections.
The digital versions of the historical images supplied by LocalHistoryViews are copyright LocalHistoryViews. However, they may be used as follows:
Webpage display, postcards, prints, and small items for framing:
Although these images are supplied primarily for personal use and reference to be displayed on a monitor, there are no restrictions on printing out up to three copies of each of the images, again if they are for personal use.
Any of these illustrations may be used without charge as display artwork on websites or to make printed items for personal or non-commercial distribution (e.g. as postcards or prints to be framed - see below for quality and size of the images) strictly subject to the on-screen or printed acknowledgement
Image courtesy www.LocalHistoryViews.combeing provided alongside each image used - in very small letters if need be. We'd appreciate receiving a copy of any printed item for our own archives and being informed of any website using our images.
Please note that the above permission to reproduce these images relates solely to printed items or to artwork to add illustrative content to websites. None of the images provided by LocalHistoryViews.com may be sold or otherwise distributed in digital or electronic form.
Suitability for printing - quality and size of the images:
The photographs are embedded as jpg images inside pdf files, the pdf software allowing them to be extracted at around 1200 x 800 pixels. This enables conventional home printing to A6 (6" x 4") postcards at 200 dpi (dots per inch) resolution or to larger prints around A5 (8" x 6") in size.
We make no warranty as to the suitability or quality of the images provided for large-scale commercial printing.
As mentioned above, the use of these images for private or non-commercial printing in quantities intended for distribution, or display on websites, is conditional upon a printed or on-screen acknowledgement line being provided to www.LocalHistoryViews.com.
