Fuel Injection without Injection Pump
BIOS Intelligence Report. FIAT Final No. 621. British Intelligence Objectives Sub-Committee (BIOS). December 1945.
** 1945 intelligence report on the development of fuel injection for high-speed diesel engines, notably by Dr. L'Orange and Hirth Motoren GmbH.
Duplicated typewritten report in English, 10 x 7.5 inches, 25 x 19 cms. 12 pages, 6 figures.
Very good in original stapled card wrappers.
Containing details of the wartime L'Orange system (Dr. L'Orange) and the parallel development by Dr. Max Bentele, a German-born pioneer in the field of jet aircraft turbines and mechanical engineering, both working for Hirth Motoren GmbH.
In postwar years, the work done by L'Orange was successfully developed by the L'Orange Company, still extant as part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG.
The Hirth system, largely based on Dr. Bentele's work, achieved similar success with the Hirth Company, now located in Benningen, Stuttgart, Germany, as part of the UAV Propulsion Tech group.
In short, this is a seminal document for both of those present-day companies.
